This week the theme is "Carry"
I'm not good with Photoshop (I'm an Illustrator fan).. but this was a wonderful opportunity to play around with Photoshop. I used this method: Digital Shading.
I enjoyed the whole process and will most likely use it again.
This is straight from my sketch book.. just thought I'd show you the before and after.

He looks really great, particularly the light and dark values. I really like the sketch! Did you feel you needed to punch it up a bit digitally? I can see the shadows are more pronounced but could you do the same with a soft pencil?
ReplyDeleteMostly I'm just very curious about others' processes. I usually do a little digital cleanup myself, but I still call it a pen and ink with digital touch-up rather than a digital product.
It looks great, the sketch looks great before any tweaking but photoshop has just enhanced it. Love the text too.

ReplyDeleteCindy: I probably could have done it with a soft pencil, but I think I just wanted to try a different technique. And because I'm used to digital work (Illustrator mainly), I don't feel it's complete unless I do something with it on computer. The entire image was changed using the 'smudge' tool (mainly) - so I don't think I can classify it as anything else but digital at this point. :)
