Delicioso Swap

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuh

With all the many special things about Eid, two of the obvious are the people you get to share it with and the food.

Insha'Allah this swap will be a means of not only connecting family and friends, but those dear brothers and sisters beyond our reach.

Details of swap: Send your swap partner an edible gift she can enjoy with her family. Edible = anything you can eat - sweet, salty, sour, chewy, bitter, spicy, homemade or bought, a lot or a little, rare or common, etc.

Note: all items must adhere to Islamic rules - please do not include anything that contains vanilla (any alcohol), gelatin, any meat product, etc., and keep the allergy list in mind (it will be emailed to you).

Participants allowed: International (open to Muslimahs only please). Participants will be partnered up with those closest to them so as to save on both shipping costs and time.

Ages allowed: All ages. (Note: if you are not mature enough to see this swap through, please don't sign up) - I encourage you to get your children involved, as it's a good way to teach them about giving. They could make an Eid card, or help with the shopping.

Cost Limit: None. (You will need to make sure there is at least one item (i.e.: one candy) for each member of the family)

Rules: You will have to inform me and your swap partner (with a tracking number) via email when you have sent out your package and when you have received your package.

Those who have not completed previous swaps will not be permitted to enter this one. (i.e. if you sent out a gift and it has not reached your swap partner, you may not enter this one)

Optional: if you email me a picture of your gift before Eid, I shall add it to our swap pics.

Sign up due date: Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Partners will be emailed to you on: Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Package must be mailed out before: Monday, December 1st, 2008

If you would like to participate, I will need to know the following information. (amtullah79@yahoo.ca) note: .ca NOT .com
Please email me the answers even if you have participated in a previous swap.

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuh

Many sisters have asked about the Ramadaan TIME swap, forgive me for taking so long to post images - between the flu and waiting for sisters to receive their gift, 'time' was just flying! jaja!

Our theme was Time, and this what I came up with:

The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa-salaam) said,
Take advantage of five conditions before five others:
    1) Youth before old age. - bib (for her little one, of course)
    2) Good health before sickness. - soup bowls
    3) Free time before you become occupied. - dhikr book (prayers for forgiveness)
    4) Wealth before poverty. - fruit candles and chocolate (rep. sustenance)
    5) Life before death. - cd lecture series on death (by Shaykh Feiz)

And this is the beautiful gift I received: Jazaki'Allahu khair Hijabi Apprentice, it's more than wonderful! I appreciate all the TIME and thought (and money) you put into it.

ME TIME and TEA TIME a gift to help me "unwind after a long day of working for the sake of Allah" - how absolutely lovely!

Below is a list of all the sisters who were part of this swap. Jazakum'Allahu khair for joining us, I hope you enjoyed it, and will be rewarded for it. - each name will take you to an image of what they made/sent.
