How about we do a little sharing, shall we..
What is your favourite sandwich?? (no .. "what *this restaurant* serves" please, unless you tell us exactly what is in it.)
I suppose this could be a little 'boring', but there is nothing like a cheese (real cheese.. non of the processed stuff) and tomato sandwich.. yummmmmmy! You must, must sprinkle salt and pepper on the tomatoes (it's not natural to eat them any other way), and if you really want to indulge.. butter is most welcome. Oh..on anything whole wheat.
Okay my dear readers.. I look forward to your feedback.
A pointless post? oh nooo.. I wouldn't dare!, it will actually help me with a sandwich project to help those who are not so well-to-do, insha'Allah. So share!

Assalamu'alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Masya'Allah...i love the new look! :)
and the pix of the sandwic is really tempting...hehehe
my fav sandwic would be sardine sandwich. You just had to smash the sardine, add in dice onions, chillies, a bit of salt and pepper and squeeze some lime juice. Mix all, add to the bread and can even add slices of cucumber inside the sandwic. Truly yummylicious!...hehehe
Salam Alaykum
Mashallah! New year new look :D I really love it.
My favourite would have to be sharp white cheddar cheese (nuked for 1 minute until slightly crispy) on dark whole grain bread with avocado and freshly ground black pepper on top. That is just... wow.
When I don't have avocado I squirt on some tangy deli-style mustard.
Oh... and when I lived in New Zealand I used to eat fluffy kaiser buns spread with pumpkin hummus and a slice of sharp white cheddar.
I can't stand thinking about that pumpkin hummus! I haven't eaten it in 5 years and it brings me much *agony*.
:D

Something has changed at sketched soul.... of course its the theme. Masha'allah it is very striking (the red) compared to the more subtle pink tones of late.
The extra side bar is more functional too.
On the subject of sandwiches, I find apart from fillings, the bread needs to be good. Granary is my preferred or something wholemeal.
One of my favorites is chopped in half black olives and a generous amount of feta cheese and some salad (different leafed lettuces).
So that’s a black olive-feta-salad sandwich in short.
I'm going to be away from Dont be sad until mid-February. Hope the Warm the streets goes well. Keep up the good work.
Dont be sad
salaams.
A few favorites;
1. Chicken salad. Use leftover roast or rotisserie chicken, pull meat off bone. Add mayo, dijon, chopped celery, salt and pepper. Olives, grapes, chili's can be a nice addition too (one at a time). Top with lettuce and tomato.
2. Iranian chicken salad sandwich (it has potato and egg in it - delish!). Potatos (boiled whole and then skin removed and diced) with chopped boiled egg, and chunks of chicken...mayo, salt and pepper. Top with lettuce and tomato.
3. Kid sandwich - peanut butter and sliced bananas with honey on top
4. Philly cheesesteak. Saute thin sliced beef (slice it against the grain so it's tender) with onions. Add worchestire sauce, salt and pepper (peppers too if you want). Top with provolone and serve on bread with mayo.
watchu up to?

Wow.. either I sleep too much, or you guys don't sleep enough.. look at all the comments! :)
Jazak'Allah for all the feedback, very much appreciated. It's made me very hungry..hehe I insha'Allah I hope to try every sandwich out!
Wayfarer, I'm hoping to get some sisters together to make sandwiches for the shelters in my area.. maybe once a month, insha'Allah.
Purvis, Jazak'Allah..I am very happy to hear you love the new look. Who ever would have though plane food was good :D Thank you, I shall try it out insha'Allah.
Adikbongsu, alhumduliLlah.. glad you like the new look. Ooh, I've had the same sandwich but with tuna and no cucumbers. But I'm loving this combo. Jazak'Allah.
Baraka! So nice to see you, I pray you are well :D ahh yes, anything in a croissant has to be good! I have never tried a sandwich like this.. and I might have trouble with the ingredients..but will look around, insha'Allah. Jazak'Allah.
Gulnarita, yuppers..I think it was a good time for a 'face lift', I am happy you like it. I have heard about the avocado sandwich, but never had the opportunity to taste it.. will do, insha'Allah. Pumpkin hummus sounds interesting, I wonder if you can make it at home? Jazak'Allah for sharing.
Don't be Sad, yes.. I went for total opposite, I wonder if it was a good idea. Red supposedly makes people angry..hehe I might not have any readers soon. I definitely agree..the bread makes a difference! Jazak'Allah for sharing, I already know I like this sandwich :) And thank you for letting me know you'll be away..I get worried when people don't post replies, if they normally do. Look forward to seeing you in (mid) Feb, insha'Allah.
Wow Wayfarer!, you my new sandwich queen :D Thank you so much. They all sounds delicious! I totally like grapes in!! I still eat the kid sandwich :) (no-one needs to know..hehe) and my second favourite is a Philly cheesesteak.. yummy.
Thank you again everyone!

As Salaamu ALaikum Sis:
Love the makeover at your blog.
Hummm, I love sandwhiches.
Ever had a tuna cheese panini sandwhich. Warm sandwhihes are the best.
How about a bean and beef burrito?
I can't pass up this Mexican version of a sandwhich, with some hot sauce on the side.
Wow, I am getting hungry as I type.
Thanks for the visual post.

you read my mind!! i was going to post about two new sandwiches i've discovered whilst being in "revision mode". I seem to be preferring sandwiches as they'r quick to prepare and easy to eat so less revision time wasted!!. I have to agree with Gulnari avacado sandwiches are excellent!! i have mine roughly mashed with a bit of salt and some lemon on brown seeded bread. My second favourite one that i discovered a few days ago is smoked black pepper mackarel with mixed salad leaves and cucumber again in brown seeded bread yummy
love the new design by the way it was a pleasant surprise!!

Assalamu'alaikum Farhanna,
I'm not sure if I'm late for this comment, but I'll give you the PuertoRican version of a sandwich... ha! Toasted bread (preferably french bread), sandwich spread on one side, pineapple preserve on the other, tuna (in oil and drained) on the sandwich spread side & either muster cheese or swiss cheese on the pineapple side. Put that half on the grill for a few seconds so the cheese melts and there you have it!! JOin them & eat them!!! My mum used to make these for me when I was little.... Also, I've seen & tasted a cheddar cheese sandwich with potato chips inside... very yummy!!

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister Amina,
Jazak'Allah for dropping by! I appreciate you comment very much.
Yes, I agree with. There are many benefits to giving food to those that need it.. than just giving money. Although the process is harder, but insha'Allah there is a bigger reward with the more effort put in.

Good morning Farhana, thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog. Wow - yours is wonderful, you're so creative, I am Kermit green with envy! I only wish I were closer to help you practically with all your bits and bobs but there's a few miles between us! I can see I will have to set aside a bit of time to read all your archives.
Favourite butty. That's easy. Homemade Coronation chicken on crusty bread. The type of bread doesn't matter, white, brown, wholemeal, but it has to be crusty, the kind that you're in danger of losing teeth with and the chicken homemeade.
Fry 1 finely chopped onion for 5 minutes, stir in 1 tbsp curry powder. Stir in 150ml chicken stock, 1 tsp tomato puree, juice of 1/2 lemon and 2 tbsp mango chutney. Stir until boiling, cook for 5 mins until the mixture reduces and thickens. Allow to cool then stir in 250 ml mayonnaise (whatever kind depending on how healthy you want to be!)and 3 tbsp double cream. Add cooked chicken chunks and 2 oz chopped dried apricots and stir to coat.
Much love
Sandy

Hello, hello Sandy,
So wonderful to have you here, thank you very much for visiting my side of the world..and for the lovely comment! I wish you were closer too, to help me out :) but the thought is very much appreciated.
This recipe sounds really, really interesting, and delicious! I must try it. LOL@the bread type (I better try it while I have my teeth).
I'll let you know how it goes.
Take care.

As'salamu alaykum wa rhamatullahi :)
My favorite sandwich......well that changes with the time of day (I am expecting LOL). Right now I would love to sink my teeth into a thick peanut butter (organic) and jelly sandwich, with super soft fresh whole wheat bread, accompanied by a tall glass of ice cold milk.
Yum.

Wow, LOVE the new look for your blog!
Okay, the first thing that popped into my head is this turkey sandwich I had... on an airplane. Maybe it's because I was really hungry, maybe my expectations were really, really low, but... it was SO GOOD.
The sandwich consisted of: 1 hoagie with deli turkey breast spread with 1 packet of mayo/mustard combo. I don't even remember if there were any veggies on it. But it was very satisfying.
