As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuh

Umm Hibaat and Adikbongsu, here is the seascape I mentioned.

27" x 19" Pastel painting

This was done for my sister. It's not my usual work, as in.. it doesn't have much detail, and I felt pretty free to just layer on the colours without much thought, and so.. it was an enjoyable piece to work on. AlhumduliLlah, my sister is happy with it.

Now to work on something else!

Assalaamu'alaykum wa rahmatuLlah

Yes, your sister is happy with it, and she thanks you for your effort (even moreso than your talent)..masha'Allah! :)

It's a beautiful "painting"! I really love the blending of colours (call it 'shading' if you will) on the rocks..quite something.

Asalaamualaikum Farhana,

Loved it, mashaAllah!
Did you paint on site or from a picture?

I too love working with dry pastels. Its been ages since i've touched them, though. I wonder if i'll be able to paint again.
But its true, you can create amazing clouds, sunsets and water features with pastels.

Wa'alaykum as-salaam wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sisters,

Adikbongsu, jazaki'Allahu khair for the sweet comment! I too feel calm looking at it.. the beauty of water :D

Serendipitouslife, lovely to see you!! Thank you so much for the comment. I painted this one from a picture, but insha'Allah this summer I hope to spend more time at the lake and practice.

I hope you decided to pick up the pastels again! It's the mistake I made. Although I always seem to be doing something 'creative', I didn't work on my fine art as much as I should have. Now I have to make up for lost time. If you work on any, I'd LOVE to see some!

Take care
Lots of Love

Assalaamu Alaykum,

Beautiful. Just beautiful ma sha Allah! I'm so glad you shared it with us. I've had a packet of pastels sitting in my cupboard for maybe nearly a year. I was supposed to try out different things. Need to get to it!

Jazakillahu khayran sis!

Wa'alaykum as-salaam wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister,

AlhumduliLlah, I am very happy you like it! Thank you :D

Oh Umm Hibaat, you must take those pastels out and put them to some good use. I believe once you get started you'll wish you used them long ago. (Well.. that's how I feel right now). Let me know how it goes :D

Lots of Love
Farhana

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister Nadia,

Thank you for the lovely comment. Haha.. insha'Allah one day I'll come live next door :D

As for where I learned. I've taken art all through primary & highschool - it's the one class I've always done well in. I'm also a professional Graphic Designer.. so 'art' has kind of followed me throughout my life. It's actually a combination of blessings and classes :D

The classes helped in introducing me to different mediums, but I know drawing itself has always come easy, alhumduliLlah - and practice definitely makes us all better.

Lots of Love
Farhana

The painting is stunning Mashaa'Allaah, its as though you can feel the water splashing against the rocks.

I like the layout of your blog.

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu dear Ahlaam,

Thank you so much for the visit, and the lovely comment.

Jazaki'Allahu khair.

AlhumduliLlah, glad you like the blog layout.. you comment comes at a perfect time! Just when I was contemplating changing it.. hehe I shouldn't though... when people keep changing their blog, it throws the readers off.

Love Farhana
