Well well.. look what I have been busy making. Hijab pins!! A little time consuming, but pretty in any scarf :) The purple one (which looks black in the picture - sorry for the bad picture, you'd be amazed how much they shy away from the camera *modest pins..hehe*) is for my sister, and I think I shall keep the pink one. I have made a good number of them to date but have only kept one for myself so far.. they make great gifts, because they are practical and anything handmade is good.. right? (I know some people are shaking their head.. wait till I send you a handmade lint keeper :P ..hehe)
If sisters would like a hijab pin, I'd be happy to make one for you, I only ask that you donate some money to The Muslimah Centre of Pattani (Thailand).

Wa'alaykum as-salaam wa Ramatu Llahi Wa barakatuhu my dear sisters,
Jazak'Allah :)
Sister Asma... it's the blessing of multi-tasking *apparently men aren't as blessed*... usually every hijab pin I make, I listen to an Islamic lecture with. And I don't waste my time with t.v, etc... so alhumduliLlah that leaves me to do much more productive things.

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dear sister,
Insha'Allah I shall try to explain how to make them here, for the benefit of others.. it is a little difficult to explain, because I don't know if you have made jewelry before.
Supplies you will need:
:: gold, silver of coloured wire (gauge will depend on your bead size and how thick you want it)
:: assorted beads
:: wire cutters
:: round nose pliers
:: bent nose pliers
:: head pins
Using the wire cutters cut a piece of wire (approx. 0.5" to 1"... depends on your bead size, you'll have to try a few out).
Using the round nose pliers make a loop at one end of the wire, slip a bead though and close the end by making another loop at the end.
Make as many of these as you like (depending on the length you want your hijab pin)
Hold one loop with the bent nose pliers and gently open it up using the round nose pliers.. take another one of the pieces you have already made and loop it in, close the loop. (Attach all like this until you have the desired length.)
Using your round nose pliers, make a loop at the top of the head pin.
Take your chain which is now complete and open the top loop and attach it to the loop just made in the head pin.
Voila! you are done.
I add more then one chain.. the picture shows two, but sometimes I even add three chains. I also finish of the ends with different designs..(ie. by twisting the wire differently or adding a charm, etc.)
Insha'Allah I hope this helps.

Hello anonymous,
Oooh, you in Toronto too.. lovely :)
I don't know any specific store, you should be able to find the headpins at any sewing store, and the hat pins, I have no idea where to find them... if you find any of those, please let me know where I can get them.
May I ask what are you raising funds for??

Salaam Alaikum Sr. Farhana,
I was wondering if you would be interested in donating some pins you have made for a Hijab Fashion Show. We will be inshall-h donating half the profit to a charity (we don't know which one yet) and we would be willing to publish your name/organization as well. If you are not able to do this, please inform your friends and family as we want to show Hijab in a positive and fashionable way in order to encourage youngsters to
