As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi Wa barakatuhu

Oooh.. let me tell you about today!!.. what can I say about today, except I just received the most beautiful package in the mail!! Really.. look, I even had to take a picture of it :)

My wonderful swap partner UmmLayla sent me so many amazing things!
:: Happy Hooker (it's a crochet book people... jeeez)... and that is just what I wanted to learn :)
:: 2 balls of pretty yarn.. which I can felt too.. (I've never tried that before)
:: some very cool crochet needles.. look at them!!
:: and the most pretty glass hijab pins (handmade by mom..masha'Allah) they really are so pretty, she should market them!! sorry I couldn't get a close up of them.. just take my word on how pretty they are.

Jazak'Allah Umm Layla, I don't know what to say.. I am so happy with everything. I am very familiar with how good the 'Stitch n' Bitch' books are, and I can't stop looking through this one.. now to learn something so I can make stuff!!

May Allah reward you for your kindness and give you success in all that you do. Ameen.

My package to you should be on it's way. Not as exciting (sorry).. but insha'Allah I hope you still like it :)

How is everyone else's Eid Book Swap going?? Any constructive feedback is welcome.. so I know what to fix up for future swaps, insha'Allah.

Wa alaikum Salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Dear Farhana,

Shhhhh! Don't remind me of the sock project! I am such a chicken I haven't even started yet :(. I have never crocheted by it seems a little less complicated than knitting (I could be totally wrong) so I want to try it.

Insha Allah after Ramadan I will get back to my creativity :).

ma'a salaamah,

He He! Glad you liked it. I learned to crochet (or was refreshed on what grandma taught me years ago) from this book. Hey if the stitch and bitch books taught me knitting, why not crochet? I think that crochet is faster, but maybe that's just me.

You should try felting, I think it is too cool. I am doing a felted bunny cover for my ipod right now:)

and hijabi-apprentice. Socks take time, but will break you into knitting fast. I did socks as my first project... I still have two pairs with one done and one only half finished!LOL Believe it or not the toddler sweater for my son took about the same time as a pair of socks... So many little stitches.

Asalaamu Alaikum Umm Layla,

You did socks as your first project! Wow, subhana Allah! My first project was a warped scarf. I would like to also knit or crochet a kufi for my Dad. Oh so many projects so little skill and motivation :P.

ma'a salaamah

ps: Umm Layla I may need to contact you when I actually do start my socks.

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dear sisters,

hehe Hijabi Apprentice, I hear nothing, I see nothing, and I shall say nothing about you still not having knitted any socks.. :P

Umm Laylaaa.. not like, love :)
Oooh a bunny ipod cover, please let me know how that goes. Yes, insha'Allah I want to give felting a try.

The few people I have talked to say crocheting is easier.. but I don't know, you can get lost in those stiches *at least you can count them when you knit*

Hijabi Apprentice I too have wanted to try the kufi, because my grandma makes them.. and they come out lovely (masha'Allah).. although I think my dad has enough!..hehe

Hello Rachel,

Thank you for stopping by. I have seen some of the things you knit on 'Rachel's Knitting'... very beautiful! Especially the baby sweaters!

Which do you find easy? Crocheting or Knitting.

So far those that have received their packages for the Book Swap are just amazing. I am so proud of you all, so much effort and love has gone into them. Masha'Allah.

Ma'salaama (May you leave in peace)

Must we keep callin it by it's title?? :P

Okaay it is only me or does the title not bother anyone?..lol

It's like you're saying 'betty crocker' in stead with a swear word:o .... Hmm i wonder who's marketing idea this was ?!

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatu Shir,

Humm.. no, it doesn't bother me personally.

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dear sister,

I look forward to seeing the bunny cover :)

Insha'Allah now that Ramadaan is over, I want to get started on some crocheting, I've already started reading my book, and love it.. I think it's the perfect book for beginners (and non-beginners).

wa alaikum salaam!

Well, i started one of the baby blankets in there and then stopped and made it a scarf instead. I want to make a purse that's in there but am caught up right now in the kazillion links a dear sister sent me with tons of fun projects. It's a great book for learning the various stitches and has some cute ideas!

I'm going to link you on my blog if that's okay with you...
